Student Honors Activities Council
The Student Honors Activities Council (SHAC), a recognized student organization made up of students who are active and involved in the UHC, meets regularly throughout the academic year. SHAC students have played a fundamental role in creating academic community by planning and sponsoring a variety of cocurricular events.
Typical activities include social events such as the annual Gateway Clipper Semi-Formal and academic events like the Drue Heinz Lecture Series. SHAC sponsors flag football tournaments and trips to the cultural district to see the ballet, musicals, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. We have an annual student-faculty thanksgiving dinner, spring picnic, and we participate in service activities like Project Pittsburgh.
SHAC exists because students initiate the planning and organization of its events. The group is always looking for highly motivated students to assist in this process, and all participants are invited to plan events they feel are meritorious.
