Upon completing her undergraduate degree and beginning her graduate studies at Pitt, Kelly Coburn joined the University Honors College (UHC) as the housemaster for the Forbes-Craig Honors Community. As housemaster, she is responsible for developing academic community through the facilitation of student-initiated programs and one-on-one interactions with high-achieving, upperclass honors students.

While serving as housemaster, Coburn is also a full-time graduate student in the University of Pittsburgh's School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, pursuing her Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Her research interests include autism spectrum disorders, computer-mediated communication tools, and the development of reading and writing skills.

Coburn came to Pittsburgh from the Maryland suburbs and completed a Bachelor of Philosophy degree at Pitt in 2009. Her thesis research was on the use of instant messaging software by individuals with Asperger's Syndrome. She also earned a Linguistics minor and a certificate in American Sign Language. As an undergraduate, Coburn was actively involved in Rainbow Alliance and Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity. She also lived in the Honors Community for three years and has participated in UHC reading groups and the Brackenridge Undergraduate Research Fellowship.
