How to Obtain Permission to Enroll in UHC Courses

In order to enroll in honors courses, you must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA (or if a first-term student, 1400 combined SAT math and critical reading scores).

If you are using Self Service Enrollment and you have a 3.25 cumulative GPA at Pitt, you do not need to obtain a permission number in order to enroll in an honors course.

If you are a first-term student who has not yet established a GPA at Pitt, you will need to meet with a UHC advisor to obtain a permission number in order to enroll in an honors course (this includes first-term students meeting the SAT requirement, as well as first-term transfer students who may have had a 3.25 GPA at their previous school).

Additionally, for any student not meeting the GPA requisite, you may be given permission to enroll in a UHC course by meeting with an honors college advisor to discuss your particular situation. Such decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, with flexibility afforded those students having strong interest and background in a specific discipline.

Please note that obtaining a permission number for an honors course does not guarantee you a seat in the class.

Beginning Monday, October 19, through Friday, November 13, honors college advisors will be available to meet with students to discuss honors courses at the following times:
