First-Year Housing Application
Does the idea of living and learning in this environment sound exciting to you? If so, the next step is relatively easy! Placement in these communities is based on an application process, as well as completion of the standard University Housing processes. If you're interested in these dynamic communities, you can download an application from this page.
PLEASE NOTE: There are two steps to applying to live in the Residential Honors Communities. One is to complete the University's Housing/Dining Services Contract, which is mailed to students after they have paid their tuition deposit to the University and has a deadline based on when it is mailed. Complete this contract without regard to Honors Housing, i.e. list a building OTHER than Forbes Hall as your prefererred residence. The second is completion of the First-Year Honors Community application, which is available for download here. The order you in which you complete these items is unimportant, provided both are completed by their respective deadlines.
Also, Honors students are not guaranteed a place in the Honors Community. Every year we have more applications than available space. Students must apply to live in these communities and meet the application deadline. High School grades, SAT scores, and scholarships are given very little weight in the application process (aside from meeting the Honors Eligible criteria).
The application is available below, in both .pdf and MSWord 2003 format. Applications are due on May 12 and won't be reviewed until after the deadline, i.e. there is no advantage to applying early or disatvantage to waiting until the deadline. If you have difficulty downloading the application, email us at hhousing@pitt.edu
