Last week, five Frederick Honors College students had the opportunity to participate in the 32nd annual National Association of African-American Honors Programs (NAAAHP) conference in Baton Rouge, LA hosted by Southern University.

The conference is an opportunity for students around the country to gather for networking, academic competitions, scholarly research presentations, and educational & professional enrichment opportunities.

FHC students participated in the Model African UN and Quiz Bowl competitions. In the Model African UN, students Ian Kehinde, Mary Angbanzan and Ashawnti Buckner chose to represent the Ivory Coast. Ian served as vice chairperson and was a delegate on the Economic Matters committee. Mary was a delegate on the Peace and Security committee. Ashawnti was chairperson of the Pan-Africanism and Continental Unity. Mary and Ashawnti won awards as Best Orator and Best Committee Leader respectively. Faith Green and Ralajah Ferguson participated in the Quiz Bowl competition. Our FHC students had a great time networking with other African-American honors students while also getting to partake in some Louisianan delicacies and explore Baton Rouge.
