In 2022, Alex Firestine was named Pitt's first George J. Mitchell Scholar; through this scholarship, he is pursuing an MSc in climate change, agriculture and food security at the University of Galway.

In 2023, Anna Li became Pitt's first recipient of the Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans. The fellowship helps to support Li's graduate work focusing on treating antibiotic-resistant infections in cystic fibrosis patients at Pitt.
