This nonprofit, nonpartisan organization is dedicated to defending and protecting our individual rights and personal freedoms. Through advocacy, education and litigation, our attorneys, advocates and volunteers work to preserve and promote civil liberties including the freedom of speech, the right to privacy, reproductive freedom, and equal treatment under the law. The ACLU stands in defense of the rights of women and minorities, workers, students, immigrants, gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people, and others who have seen bias and bigotry threaten the rights afforded to all of us in this country by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
The August Wilson Center for African American Culture
One of only two major arts institutions in the world named for Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright and Pittsburgh native August Wilson, the August Wilson Center for African American Culture engages regional and national audiences in its mission of preserving, presenting, interpreting, celebrating and shaping the art, culture and history of African Americans utilizing the rich history, legacy and culture of African Americans from Western Pennsylvania as a foundation.
Global Solutions Pittsburgh
Global Solutions Pittsburgh is an independent educational organization, the local affiliate of Citizens For Global Solutions, a national organization working toward global solutions to global problems. Their organization has been educating western Pennsylvanian citizens about global interdependence for over sixty years. Global Solutions Pittsburgh provides nonpartisan, internationally-focused education to schools and communities throughout western Pennsylvania. They strive to realize our goals by (1) Cultivating global awareness and engagement in our region through innovative educational programming and strategic partnerships; (2) Supporting global education in schools through direct student engagement, curricular support, and teacher professional development; (3) Promoting respect for human rights by educating citizens and facilitating collaboration within the regional human rights community.

The New Pittsburgh Courier is one of the oldest and most prestigious Black newspapers in the United States, with a rich and storied history. The Courier provides daily news on the major issues impacting the African-American community around the nation.
Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh
The Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh was founded in 1918 with the shared National Urban League mission of enabling African-Americans to secure economic self-reliance, parity and power, and civil rights.
