Graduating with Honors

Flexible degree options for every acadamic path (even if you forge your own)

All curious, driven students at Pitt can participate in our courses and programs, but if you want a deeper involvement, you can pursue an Honors degree.

Bachelor of Philosophy (BPhil) thesis

The BPhil is the highest level of undergraduate of scholarship, with rigor and distinction of a master's-level degree. It includes a research thesis in any topic, and replaces your bachelor's degree with a higher, more prestigious designation.

Politics & Philosophy major

The politics and philosophy major is an interdisciplinary study of the conceptual, empirical, and normative foundations of public policy. With flexible but rigorous coursework in both theory and practice, it will prepare you to pursue a career in social and public affairs. (Offered through the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences, and advised through the Honors College.)

Honors credits

No experience at Pitt Honors looks the same. We have a flexible system so you can choose which programs are a fit for you. The requirements are being re-evaluated for the current year.
