Research

At Pitt Honors, undergraduates like you are taking the lead on incredible discoveries.

You can conduct your own research projects in ANY major — arts, STEM, social sciences, or a unique blend of your interests.

Getting Started

No matter what you're studying at Pitt Honors, you can leap right into research your first year. Pitt's Office of Undergraduate Research can help connect you to programs like the First Experiences in Research.

Another great way to start? Talking to your professors! Honors courses are small, so they're a great way to get to know your professors and their work. Some Honors courses are even research heavy themselves!

Honors Fellowships

Fund your research and creative projects in any major. As a Fellow, you'll work 1-on-1 with a faculty mentor to design your own independent project. Honors Fellowships are uniquely interdisciplinary, so you'll engage with peers and faculty from different fields. Find a fellowship »

BPhil thesis

Upgrade your bachelor's degree to the highest level of undergraduate scholarship: the prestigious Bachelor of Philosophy, a disctinction only offered at a few top universities worldwide. This adds a research thesis to your regular course of study, which you will defend to a committee of leaders in your field. Learn about this unique distinction »

Scholarships

Scholarships can help you fund your next research endeavor, or earn recognition for the research you've already done — including scholarships to research abroad, or for research-intensive graduate degrees.
